eDiscovery: Dangers of Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) for eDiscovery

Organizations are now dealing with another potential problem, one with even greater liabilities. “Bring your own cloud” or BYOC refers to the availability and use by individuals of free cloud storage space available from companies like Microsoft, Google, Apple, Dropbox, and Box.net.  These services provide specific amounts of cloud storage space for free.  What does BYOC mean for organizations responding to an eDiscovery request?

Bill Tolson has more than 25 years’ experience in marketing and consulting in the areas of information governance, archiving and eDiscovery. Bill is currently the owner of Tolson Communications LLC, an independent consulting and content creation organization specializing in the Archiving, Information Governance and eDiscovery industries. 

Prior to his current position, Bill has held management positions at Hewlett-Packard, Autonomy, Iron Mountain, Mimosa Systems, and StorageTek.  Bill is the author of two eBooks, “The Know IT All’s Guide to eDiscovery” and “The Bartender’s Guide to eDiscovery” and is the co-author of the book “Email Archiving for Dummies”.
